Last night turned out to be a great night, for my creative juices were flowing and spilling onto several pages. It was great! I discovered more about the world in which my novel is set and it is all coming together into one plot quite well. Some foreshadowing has been created as well and I just can’t wait to start writing. I’m still having a little trouble with names, but am not worrying so much anymore. Having these types of once in a blue moon strokes of helpful imagination makes me immensely happy.
I also now have two maps to reference when writing this novel. One of the Kingdom of Woodsborough and another of both the Kingdom and the Town. In short, it was a very productive night. 😀 I might share somethings with you all now.
At the foot of the mountains of Woodsborough can be found a waterfall. In the center of the large pool of water at the base of this waterfall stands a marble statue of a beautiful young woman. The woman, dressed in a medieval styled dress and robes, wears a soft expression that matches her delicate features. She also boasts a head of voluminous, curly hair atop which sits a magnificently detailed crown with what look to be real diamonds set into the stone. Carved neatly at the foot of this statue, just barely above the water, is an inscription. The words are written in a dead language which almost none can read in present times, but it tells of the history of Woodsborough and of a none-too-happy ending for a young Princess and her unborn child.
The Gorge of Althea;;
Named after the Elvin Princess, Althea, it is the place of her last stand and her sacrifice for her people, her family and the Kingdom. It is still the gateway into Elmaredor, only there is no longer a safe pass over the river that has become a gorge.
The Elmarian Wood;;
This is all that is left of Elmaredor in the 21st century. Only accessible via the Gorge of Althea, the Elmarian wood is an overgrown woodland that although it still holds beauty is a mere forest compared to the magnificent realm it used to be. It is covered with only a few remnants of what used to be magical protection, giving the land it’s eerily, messy perfection.
The Castle Ruins to the North;;
These are the ruins of the Castle of the Kingdom of Woodsborough. Although the castle was mostly destroyed, a few walls and rooms remain intact and over time, the stained and scorched land has given way to the life of lush green grass and vines among numerous other flora that now hide the ruins. It is a wondrous sight to behold, the ruins in daylight.
The Ruins of the West;;
These ruins are thought to be that of Woodsborough’s enemy. The castle is more intact than that of the Kingdom’s but the land has never recovered from the evil that used to inhabit it.
So there is some of the stuff if came up with- what is now two nights ago. Whoops. I haven’t written complete descriptions as the back stories to some of these will be in the story and I didn’t want to give too much away.
I was also thinking of posting up a character list, but then I thought better of it. Doing that would give far too much away, and we can’t have that now, can we? ;D Perhaps I can do a little introduction to just a few of the characters..? Maybe. We’ll see how this goes..
A beautiful, young 19 year old girl with lengthy brown hair and deep-drown eyes. She is a college student studying history with a major in music and entertains regularly at the local cafe/bar with her voice and her guitar. She lost both of her parents when she was young, and has lived with her best friend Zara’s family until more recently moving out on her own and back into her mum’s old house.
The 31 year old owner of the local and widely popular inn. Her pleasant personality and tolerance for almost everyone that passes through her inn has given her quite the reputation and a constant stream of customers. Melinda is one of the first people to befriend Amaia and they become quite close.
Kaiyah is Woodsborough’s most renowned sorceress/enchantress. With her brightly coloured hair and her amazing gold eyes, she is extremely unique compared to the rest of the magical community. The 26 year old woman is the Prince’s best friend and caters to any and all magical needs of the King and Queen.
Princess of Woodsborough;;
The blonde, curly haired, blue-eyed Princess is rather quiet and shy when she isn’t out playing with her brother in the gardens. At 8 years of age, she exceeds the intelligence of many of the townsfolk thanks to the castle’s abundance of books and her thirst for knowledge and understanding.
This Elvin Princess of Elmaredor, although still fairly young for an elf, has been ruling the people of Elmaredor for almost a decade. Her mother became distant and reclusive when her daughter was only 16, leaving the crown to Althea’s father. Two years later, he disappeared and the young girl’s mother returned to her for a short time to crown her as Princess and the young age of 18. She has seen neither parent since but keeps in contact with her mother. She worries for her father from whom she’s since never heard from.
I think that is all from me today (and yesterday when I actually started this post). I have to get ready for the Opening Night of my friend’s play! XD So for now..
